Brow Preparation
• Come in with an open mind about the techniques. As everyone’s skin is different, Gina will advise you of the most suitable technique that will give you the best possible results.
• It is recommended you wash your hair the night / morning before the treatment as you will not be able to wet your brows for the next 7-14 days.
• Stop use of brow enhancing serums for at least 30 days before treatment.
Brow Aftercare
DAY 1 (IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE TREATMENT)
• Using a clean tissue, gently blot your brows every 15 minutes to remove any excess lymph fluid.
• Ensuring you have clean hands, wash your brows with water every hour in a gentle, circular motion. Alternatively, wet a cotton pad and gently wipe over your brows. Pat dry with a clean tissue. Repeat this step until you go to sleep.
• Before going to bed, apply a small amount (half a rice grain per brow) of the aftercare cream.
DAY 2 UNTIL FLAKING STAGE HAS FINISHED – 2x A DAY MORNING AND NIGHT
• Blot off any aftercare cream residue using a clean tissue.
• Using a clean cotton tip, gently dab on a small amount (half a rice grain per brow) of the aftercare cream. Note: Using too much cream will over moisturise your brows, which will result in flakes coming off prematurely = poor retention. For clients with oily skin, you may skip applying the aftercare cream as your natural oils will keep the area moisturised.
• Repeat the process above 2x a day, morning and night until the flaking of your eyebrows have naturally peeled (usually 1-2 weeks).
Lip Preparation
• If you have a history of cold sores, it is preferred that you see a pharmacist a week before to request for a treatment in the case of an outbreak.
• If you have a coldsore outbreak, the procedure cannot be done until it has stopped.
• No lip injections 4 weeks before and after your treatment.
• Avoid laser hair removal within the area 2 weeks before your treatment.
• Gently exfoliate the area in the week leading up to your appointment.
• Ensure the lip area is well moisturised.
• Stay hydrated for a week leading up to your appointment.
• Please consider your menstruation cycle. It is best to book your appointment on a date that you are not menstruating and 1-2 weeks after your cycle has ended. This is because you will generally experience increased sensitivity throughout the treatment while you are on your cycle.
Lip Aftercare
DAY 1 (IMMEDATELY AFTER THE TREATMENT)
• Using a clean tissue, gently blot your lips every 15 minutes to remove any excess lymph fluid.
• Every hour, gently wash your lips with water using clean fingers . Pat dry with a clean tissue.
• If your lips are feeling tender, you may put ice in a zip lock bag and wrap it with paper towel. Do not keep it on your lips for too long at a time. If it is too cold for your lips, then it will do more harm than good and may make them swell more.
• Before going to bed, apply a thin layer of the aftercare balm provided to you.
DAY 2 – UNTIL FLAKING HAS FINIHSED:
• As your lips will start to feel dry and leathery, you can apply thin layers of the aftercare balm as often as you like.
• Try not to get your lips wet for too long. If you do get them wet, pat it dry as soon as you can.
• FACE MASK WEARERS: If you are required to wear a face mask for most of your day, please use clean disposable masks only. Change your mask every 2 hours, ensuring you blot and rinse any balm residue in between. You will risk an infection if you are not following these steps.
• If you run out of the aftercare balm, you can purchase La Roche Posay Cicaplast Lip Balm from Chemist Warehouse or Priceline. Do not use petroleum jelly or paw paw as this won’t let your lips heal properly.
What To Avoid While Healing
• Avoid drowning the area with water from day 2 onwards.
• No excessing sweating until flaking comes off. Sweat will push out pigment and / or cause premature lifting of pigment which will result in colour loss.
• Do not pick, pull, or scratch the fakes / scabs on the area. This causes premature peeling and will create scarring and loss of colour.
• Use a clean pillow case and avoid sleeping on your face. If you’re a face sleeper, tape a clean tissue on top of the area.
• No product (other than the aftercare cream) on the area until scabbing comes off.
• No acid / oils on or around the area. this will cause the colour to fade quicker than it should.
• For lips: Avoid eating spicy foods, scalding hot drinks/food, lip gloss, lipsticks, alcohol and citrus, and drink through a straw until the flaking has naturally come off (usually within 5 days).
Long Term Care
• Apply SPF to the area to protect the cosmetic tattoo from the sun.
• If you are having any laser or facial beauty treatment please inform your technician before the procedure that you have a cosmetic tattoo.
• It is recommended that you avoid using benzoyl peroxide,
hydrogen peroxide, glycolic acid, vitamin e and c and retinol directly on the treated areas as these products can make the
colour fade quicker than it should.
• Maintain the shape of your brows by regularly tweezing, waxing or threading any excess hairs.
• Refreshes are recommended every 1-2 years depending on your skin, lifestyle and aftercare. Refreshes are to maintain the vibrancy of your colour and to keep your shape defined.
